Works for Lineage2.ms x1, x10, x30
Interlude is a 20-year-old client. Installing it on Windows 10 or Windows 11 is not one-click — but if you follow the steps in order, you’ll be in Aden within 15 minutes.
I System Requirements
OS: Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11 (both 32-bit and 64-bit work)
CPU: any dual-core from the last decade — Interlude is single-threaded and light
RAM: 4 GB minimum, 8 GB recommended if you multibox
Disk space: 15 GB for the client (SSD recommended for zone loading)
GPU: any integrated graphics from 2015+ runs Interlude at 60 fps
Internet: any stable connection — the game uses tiny bandwidth (under 1 Mbps)
II Download the Interlude Client
Go to lineage2.ms/en/start. Choose Interlude (Chronicle 6). Multiple mirrors are available — pick the fastest for your region:
MEGA — global, requires the MEGA desktop app for files > 5 GB
Google Drive — global, split into parts, fast in most regions
MediaFire — global, no login required, moderate speed
File size is around 15 GB. Download time depends on your connection — on 50 Mbps it’s about 40 minutes.
III Extract and Install
Extract the archive to a folder outsideC:\Program Files — Windows UAC blocks writes to that folder and Interlude needs write access. Recommended: C:\Games\Lineage2.
The extracted folder should contain l2.exe, l2.bin, system/, textures/, and other folders.
No installer runs — the client is portable. Extraction is the installation.
IV Apply the Lineage2.ms Patch
The generic Interlude client points to NCSoft’s dead servers. The Lineage2.ms patch re-routes it to our servers. The patch is included in the download from step 2 — it’s a small archive named something like patch_lineage2ms.zip.
Extract the patch archive into the system/ folder of your Interlude installation.
Enter an email or phone number, choose a strong password, agree to the rules.
If email verification is required, confirm from your inbox.
Once activated, your login is what you’ll type at the game’s launcher.
VI First Launch
Navigate to your install folder (e.g. C:\Games\Lineage2\system).
Right-click l2.exe → Properties → Compatibility tab. Enable “Run as administrator” and set compatibility mode to Windows 7 if you’re on Windows 10/11.
Double-click l2.exe. The launcher opens.
Type your master account login and password. Select the server (x1, x10, or x30 — whichever you want to play).
Create a character — race and class of your choice (see the Classes guide for help).
Enter the world.
Common Problems & Fixes
“Access violation” on launch
The client can’t write to its own folder. Solution: right-click the install folder → Properties → Security → give “Users” full control. Or reinstall outside Program Files.
Black screen after character select
Windowed-mode conflict with your GPU driver. Fix: open system/l2.ini, find FullScreenViewport=false and set it to true. Or press Alt+Enter to toggle fullscreen.
Login screen loads but authentication fails
Firewall is blocking outbound connection. Add l2.exe to Windows Firewall exceptions (inbound and outbound). If you use a VPN, disconnect — the login server sometimes flags VPN IPs.
Slow FPS in cities
Interlude uses UnrealScript — player mob counts hit the CPU hard. Open system/l2.ini and reduce MaxCharactersOnScreen to a lower number. In Giran during prime time, 25 is a good setting.
